Late Summer Walk 2011

Govilon Heritage group are running a guided circular walk along the picturesque Abergavenny to Merthyr railway and the Brecon and Abergavenny Canal in and around Govilon.  We will view the site of an ancient forge, and discover how the industrial revolution changed this rural corner of Monmouthshire.  The walk follows the abandoned railway track, quiet country lanes and the canal towpath to explore some of the most interesting history of the village.

The Walk starts and finishes at the Forge Car Park (on the Tyla Road at the top of Station Road, Govilon) (SO263134).

Distance 3.5 km   Times: 10:30 to 12:30.  Guest Leader:  Rob Vaughan
