The following press release has just been released by Monmouthshire County Council regarding the current severe weather conditions:

Govilon School – The Facts

MCC decided to review vacant places in Primary Schools in the Bryn y Cwm area but only look at schools outside Abergavenny – this is illogical, particularly as one Abergavenny school has 100 vacancies
They rushed to do the review before they looked at re-assessing the capacity of schools and before the Local Development Plans for [...]

New Welsh Assembly waste strategy

Many Govilon people young and old, care deeply about the environment.  The Welsh Assembly Government is, rightly, giving a very high priority to the future of our children and reducing our ‘ecological footprint’.  Their new strategy ‘Towards Zero Waste: One Planet’ aims to reduce by drastically reducing waste and recycling.  MCC have done quite well [...]

Council News July 2009 – Budget, Policing & Market

County Council News

Strategic Review of Primary Education in the Bryn y Cwm Area:
I mentioned this in the last Newsletter and it has now started. As you know the child population has reduced over the years and there is a view that some schools may become too small to be educationally viable. All the Primary Schools in the [...]

Govilon School

One of my most enjoyable ‘duties’ since becoming your County Councillor has been involvement with our School. Many of you will know that there was a really packed and most enjoyable evening of celebration and awards held on 23rd January. A fantastic video of the school and its activities was shown and the sheer enthusiasm [...]

Abergavenny Regeneration

As many of you will have seen the Brewery Yard Scheme is under way and should be finished by September 2009. The Cattle Market redevelopment scheme progresses and thank you to those who have made comments since my last Newsletter. Understandably, the tone of comments I have received are along the lines of “what’s the [...]
